Lucky!!
It sucks. Every US car we get here that is offered in europe they get a diesel option. We get a couple VWs that is it. VW must pay the government to keep other diesel off US soil. Although I'm sure its all EPA and Evap stuff that keeps diesels away.

It is also sales figures. Everyone takes a look at how few diesels VW sells and decides it is not worth it. Not noticing how insanely expensive vw's are, nor how horrific their quality seems to be right now.

The other problem is the price of diesel fuel. Adding an extra 20 or 30 cents a gallon on top of a more expensive car, and that is even if you can find diesel fuel at all, makes it a tough sell for the bean counters.
