Considering the US emissions standards set by the EPA, it might be a long long time before they ever let a diesel Yaris into the states. They keep changing the standards and make it tougher for manufacturers to meet emissions. It's a costly and a diesel auto isn't that popular in the US so the payoff just isn't there.

Would I like to have a diesel Yaris? Depends on the cost and the fuel consumption. Would I like to have a 6-speed manual transmission? Absolutely!!!
Do I understand why they aren't in the US? Sure

I wonder if you can buy one in Canada??? That might be a way to get it across the border.....
