Scott has done a test before, measuring when the gas gauge actually begins to measure consumption. That's the reason the first bar always lasts the longest. My record is 107 miles before the first bar disappears.

107 x 7 bars = 749 miles/tank...which is outlandish and impossible. Hence why on that same tank, I only got 423 miles. Mind you, I've only had patience to baby 400 miles out of a tank twice, and I've had my car for over 2 years now and almost 55,000 miles.

This is the reason that the first bar always last the longest, and subsequent bars disappear quicker. That first bar isn't measured properly because the gas can be filled beyond what the gauge inside the tank reads as 'full'.

Don't drive to the car shuts off, the Yaris has a very efficient scavenger ability. If the car turns off you won't be able to restart it. I did that once.

I like the manual. Other than work vehicles, I have never owned a vehicle with an automatic transmission. So, when I found the Yaris and saw it was a manual, I took that as a sign to buy it.

However, first gear can be a little tricky. I don't know if it is the wireless throttle, quietness of the engine, low idle or what, but I find it a little tricky starting off under certain conditions. I am better with it now, but I still need to get better.
Starting off in the Yaris is a pain. The electronic throttle has issues. You can buy a controller that is supposedly much much better.

When I ran out of fuel I had 444.4 miles on it. Also my best tank, I think the Yaris underestimates the gas in the tank when it gets down low as well, but no way am I running it down again, if it dies it won't start up again. I don't need to tempt fate and hit 400 miles on a tank.
