If you live in the salt belt, I am quite sure Fit will have rust perforation much earlier than Yaris. I see a ton of older civics and corollas around and all civics have rust in the rear quarter panels and most corollas show no rust at all.

that's pretty idiotic. You're comparing the new yaris and fit to mid-late 90's civics and corollas? I see WAY more civics still on the road today than old corollas.....
