Weird.
How is that even possible. There arent any transmitters involved. (are there?) He must want to install it on his mistresses Yaris.

It is just the opposite. Supposedly the Rostra has some issues where it is susceptible to radio frequency emissions and can malfunction if a high wattage transmitter is keyed in close proximity.

I am an Amateur Radio Operator (Ham Radio Operator) and as such I have a radio in my Yaris. I have done extensive testing to get the cruise control to malfunction. I have the same cruise control as the OP has described (aftermarket Rostra one).
The only way I was able to make the cruise contol malfunction was to take a handheld radio and plug it into the cigarette lighter outlet. Otherwise using different frequencies and power levels I was unable to make the cruise control malfunction. I tried using a normal VHF/UHF transmitter with power up to 50 watts and have experienced no problems with the cruise. But .. using 5 watts (and plugged into the cigarette lighter outlet) I was able to make it malfunction. So .. an increase of power does not have an effect on the unit. I have also been asked to remove my cruise control by the dealer .. and I have refused to remove it. I was offered $487 to have them remove it. |

If i used it frequently i'd certainly be keeping it but i might be in a position to use it once a year if that so by all means have the darn thing which i never wanted to begin with but it was part of the power option package that came with the car, you want air? then you gotta have power windows and cruise control
