Yaris Serpentine belt snapped

Okay upon further investigation and after someone else looking at it, the drive belt is still intact, but is off completely, not snapped.

As for the pulley in question, it appears now to be the air conditioning compressor pulley.

Is it normally possible for this to break up? Also would I be able to replace the pulley or would the entire compressor need replacing?

Toyota doesn't show a part number for the separate pulley, so you will probably have to replace the whole compressor. In the meantime, you shouldn't drive the car with the belt not spinning since the water pump is driven by the belt. You can temporarily put on the belt for the 1.8 without AC, which is part number 99366-K0910. That gives you a less than $25 USD temporary fix.

Just got off the phone to toyota for a new compressor, they want £850 for the part and including labour to fit, £1350 which is basically 2136USD to fix.

However, I've found a local scrap yard who have an AC Compressor from a 2009 Yaris.

Do you think this would fit the 2007 model?

An 09 one would be fine, as long as it is off a 1.8L Yaris as well. The part number is 88310-52601 for 2007-2011.
