I bought my 2007 Yaris brand new on April 1st, 2006. It now has 120,000 miles. The only thing I had to do was replace the alternator due to the voltage regulator issue previously mentioned. This occurred relatively early. Around 50,000 miles. Apparently, that is the only issue with these cars I am aware of.

Oh, back to the alternator. I went to the Toyota garage. They said an alternator would cost.......get this....................$750. I more or less said, "you're frickin' nuts!" and left.

I bought an alternator online for $90 and put it on myself. Problem solved without going to a rip-off dealership garage. Avoid them unless absolutely necessary.

My alternator gave out in a southern suburb of Minneapolis in 2010 when I was up there for the opening of Target Field. The dealer wanted 700.00---almost as much as the dealer you went to. A nearby Sears store quoted half that and I had Sears do the job and all = okay since. Your solution is certainly preferable though re reduced expenditure.
