I would strongly recommend getting the relocation bracket though. it takes some of the strain off of the cable and thus takes out some of the weird feeling you get from the short shifter.
I didn't like the height of my shifter so I got a 3" extender for it. The short shifter puts the throw pretty much back to where it was stock. I really like it. |

I was under the impression that the TRD kit came with the bracket... but if it doesn't, I'd agree, get the bracket. When I took a quick drive around without the bracket it to see the difference that the short shifter made, I didn't like it, as if felt like something was off. After I put in the bracket, it was a lot better!
