Can't seem to find that statement here on the forums, so I'm going to say that I've been thinking wrong about associating the rear defroster with the AC compressor. Must be the alternator load then. I've adding some additional grounding, but have yet to add to the alternator positive. I see an improvement in voltage with my headlights on (prior to adding the grounding it was 13.8-13.9v, now it's 14.0-14.1v). I haven't had the need to use my rear defrosters very much, so I'm not sure if I'll still experience that mpg drop that I did in the past.
