17 planning to lower with Tein S-Tech Springs

Hi guys,

I've been looking around the "wheel, tire and suspension" area for some time and noticed that a lot in 17 inch rims are using 205/40/17 tires.

I want to replace my current wheels setup (Japan Racing JR-8 15x6.5J ET+38 with 185/60/15 tires on my yaris bizz D-4D) to 205/45/17 with some 17x7.5J ET+40 offset rims.
I was wondering if I will be able to drop this using Tein S-Tech Springs (approx 1.9 inch drop) on stock shocks without having rubbing issues?

(ON FUTURE I´M PLANNING TO MOUNT TOKICO BLUES SHOCKS)

According to the size comparison widget at rimsntires.com, you've got enough room. I have 205/50R15 BFG Rivals on 15x7 ET 42 for my race tires, as well as MI springs with Tokico blues. I get wheel rub against the frame near steering lock, and fender rub on hard cornering. The rears have plenty of room. Tien S-techs have slightly more drop, so you may have more issues during normal driving. My solution for the fender rub was to install -1.5° OEM crash (camber) bolts.

I think it may just be a "try it and see if it works" fitment.

I've done the test fit with 205/40R17'' and 205/45R17'', was leaning size 205/45R17'' but I'm afraid of having problems with scraping the fenders.

what advise me? will i have ploblems with 205/45R17''?

That's your car??

I think you should be fine. You may rub on large bumps or with people in the back, worst comes to worst you can just lightly roll your inner fender lips, wont do anything to the body on the outside and will alleviate any rubbing. Looks good though.

So in your opinion i can ride with 205/45R17 right?

My problem is on the front fenders because on the rear i have enough space and i don't have rear seats because this car is a business car so only have the two front seats dude

oh yea that solves any problem in the rear lol. I think you will be fine up front, if not like i said you can use your hands and slightly pull on the fender and it will clear

we had a friend rocking 205/45R17 before and the fender liner/cover inside created a hole due to the tires rubbing inside. Phil is right about fender rolling, but you should watch out for the fender lining as well.

Just my .02 cents.

The liner is nothing, its a thin piece of plastic it wont do any damage to your tires

I don't know if it's cause the rims were heavy but you could feel every rock on the road, every pot hole, every bump, when back to 15" steelies and it feels so soft ride just like a stock yaris from the dealership.

May I steal the thread since it's about tein s-tech springs and rims.
I have tein s-tech springs with Enkei 15x7 ET 35. I'm wondering will 195/55/15 rub ? I know that 195/50/15 are fine however I feel they're low profile and will make the ride very hard so I prefer 195/55.

im on 195 55 15 42 offset and 1.8 drop ...i really dont see a problem with given offset and drop.
