2009 Yaris airbag light staying on
Hi guys. I have a issue with my 09 Yaris. I bought the car with airbags deployed through a light frontal crash. Ive replaced the airbag kit from a 07 Yaris. I bought a new Module suited to the 09 model. The front sensors are from the 07 model..ive since found out that the sensors from the 05-06 are different to 06-07 and 08-11 models but not sure if they are compatible or not??. The airbag light stays on and when I do the self diagnosis the numbers are 83 and 84?? .
I have not seen these numbers mentioned on this forum as i have searched. Can anyone shed some light as to the fix please? I dont want to replace the front sensors if this isnt the issue. Cheers in advance. Last edited by #30; 08-25-2015 at 11:47 PM. |

Welcome . ^^^^^ Sounds like a CTScott question. Perhaps he will see this, or you could just send him a private message. Good luck .

83 and 84 are codes for no comm with the Front Satellite sensor LH and RH sensors.

That's what the service manual listed, but it did not show the location. After a bit more research the "Satellite" sensors are the side impact sensors.

Can the original sensors that activated the original airbags be used again? There is no damage to them or can the sensors be tested ?

Yes - As long as the airbags and sensors have not been damaged they are reusable. Make sure that the Airbag ECU that you purchased is really the exact same part number as your original one.
