He also said something about it being superseded by a different part number, but was still able to find it using the part number below. Maybe check another dealer in your area, and make sure the first dealer isn't trying to sell you the iPod connection kit?

And the plug, pre-wired in the car, shown at the sedan location. As you found, on the hatchback it should be around the gear shifter. This is harness D75, I believe, if you want to be technical. Note the four wires - 2 red, 1 green, 1 grey- and the grey plug.
