I tend to agree. I would only not go OEM if they weren't readily available and you needed them immediately.

The correct plugs to use in an 08 Yaris are Denso SK16R11 or NGK IFR5A11. There is nothing special about those plugs but the engine is designed to run best when using those plugs. You could use plugs other then the two listed but they have to be iridium tipped and in the same heat range. Iridium tipped plugs are pricey but they offer very long life (Toyota recommends changing the plugs at 120K or 144 months) and a very consistent spark. Old school inexpensive copper core plugs have the strongest spark but short lifespan, and platinum tipped plugs where developed before iridium to address the short comings of copper core plugs but have the poorest conductivity. I've found that putting platinum plugs in an engine designed for copper core plugs generally results in a engine running worse than before.
