I got bored and took the cluster apart just to see.
My findings are that there is a big hunk of plastic behind the gauge overlay, so NO you cannot swap a rpm gauge from another cluster in Some other interesting info is that the orange LED lights behind the cluster are soldered onto the board, so you also cant change the color of the lights. Just some extra info just in case anyone was wondering.
