The Yaris overseas has a 6 speed manual and CVT transmissions. Not sure why they won't put them into the cars here. The engine itself seems fine and outputs the same amount of power as most small car 1.5L units so besides being "old" I don't see what makes it any better or worse than newer stuff except maybe the lack of GDI garbage that still hasn't been proven to be the most reliable thing on the planet.

Actually most 1.5L engines are in the 120 h.p. range. All of Toyota`s engines are lower rated H.P. then competition out there.

That may be changing starting in 2018 or 2019!!!!

Hope we don't get the CVT in the Yaris. That thing is a terrible driving experience!
