Speaking from experience, the padding does next to nothing in even small impacts. Don't believe me? I used to drive this.

I hit my head on the padded bars a number of times jumping it. It would be ugly in an accident. I should have gotten a racing style seat for it






There is a reason why cars with roll cages use harnesses and racing seats. This car is not the safest thing to be inside in the event of an accident anyway. Unless you have proper racing seats, harnesses, etc. then a cage can be very dangerous. Or you could just wear a helmet every day.

oh, i thought we were talking about daily driving with some fast cornering. i didn't think we were talking about accidents. my bad. then yeah, i don't think padding will help much in a serious accident.

The problem is that is when accidents happen. A 4 pt. cage isn't something you remove and replace everytime you go for a spirited drive.

The cage istelf is fine. A 4 pt is cool for daily driving if you have harnesses and seats to go with it. And never put anyone in the back under the illusion that is is safe.

The only problem with the harnesses is if you ever get trapped in the car, it could be a very bad scene.
