Pardon my lack of knowledge, but since I would like to do this as well, I have a few questions.

1. It appears that the stock speakers don't attach with screws but actually need to be cut out of a speaker holder?

2. How did you attach the new speakers to the speaker hole? Did your speakers come with that black circular mounting bracket?

3. Did you run new speaker wires to the head unit?

I've seen a few threads on how to remove the door panels so that seems not too bad. Thanks for your input! I love seeing all your progress.

Yeah, removing the door is pretty easy.

1. Pop off the arm rest panel.
2. Pop off the middle panel that has the switches and disconnect switches.
3. Pop off the panel above that panel.
4. Pop off a small black plastic piece at the front of the door panel (kinda hard to remove, I used a wide flat head screw driver and gently popped it off, wrap the tip with electrical tape to help prevent damaging the plastics).
5. Remove the screw at the door handle.
6. Remove the three screws under panels from step 1 and 2.
7. Starting from the bottom, pop off the door panel and work your way up.
8. Lift up and remove the door panel (gotta unhook the door handle and door lock).

Removing the speaker is straight forward too if you don't plan on reusing the factory speakers.
1. Disconnect the wire harness from the speaker.
2. With a hobby/xacto knife, cut out the factory paper speakers (I cut them out at the surrounds).
3. Snip the plastic pieces holding the speaker onto the bracket.
4. Pulled off the factory wires from the speaker. It takes some finessing, but it'll come off. Remove any blue sealant from the solder (provided there are still solder on the wire after ripping it off the speaker).
5. Remove the wire from the black holder to free them.
6. Hold up the new speaker onto the factory mounting bracket and center it.
7. Using a Sharpie, dot onto the foam piece where the screws will go through.
8. With the new speaker out, use the xacto knife to make a pilot hole through the foam and onto the gray plastic piece.
9. Using the screws provided with the new speaker, screw in and remove from pilot holes.
10. Attach the wires to the speaker. I shortened mine and attached butt connectors to the ends.
11. Connect the butt connectors to the appropriate factory wires. Follow the colors to see which wire is which.
LF Speaker: pink-, purple+
RF Speaker: gray-, blue+
10. If your speaker has a screw mount, slip it over the foam and plastic mount.
11. Hold the new speaker into place and carefully screw it onto the foam/gray mount.
12. Plug the wire connector back in and test the speakers to make sure they are working before putting everything back together.
