Side Protectors? 07 Hatch
Does anyone know the part number for these I'm guessing door and chip protector pieces? I can't get them any cleaner and was thinking of replacing.

It's 3M film (think clear bra). Most economical to buy in sheets and cut your own new ones. I have no idea what's involved in trying to peel the old ones off.

use a hairdryer/heatgun to have any chance. They are a pita to remove and clean any leftover residue

be warned too much heat and youll peal the paint right off the car with them!!!!
if it was me, id likely find a shop that does 3m/clear bra installs they might be the best ones to remove it and re-apply...and im one to do EVERYTHING myself |

My plan is to heat it up, conservatively, and then use a piece of fishing line to separate it from the car. I'll try on the damage side first since it doesn't matter. I'll report back with the results. |

Yeah... I know for a fact that dealers use a heat gun to remove any factory stickers on cars.
They sometimes have to remove one to replace it.... for warranty, etc. It takes a little while to slowly release it a little at a time with heat. Keep in mind that they are not made to come off/loose easily You can use a hair dryer that puts out plenty of heat. Last edited by RedRide; 08-20-2022 at 12:13 AM. |
