If it's a serial reflash, I should be able to handle it. I'm a mechanical engineer but I dabble on the sparky stuff.. I do flash firmware on a lot of our equipment and our vendors equipment. I'm also originally from RI (even lived in Middletown CT for a year), so I used to be local....eh, probably doesn't help.
Should I just send my resume for consideration? lol |

I'll volunteer! I live one town north of where you bought your car in south central MA. My 08 LB is best 14K I ever spent. I'm also very familiar with the tech side.

I have a USB JTAG Cable, I would buy a full working product when it comes out if it integrates nicely, I just can't tear apart my gf car just to test stuff :( Wish I could.

I found a new LCD this week that I am hoping will overcome the sunlight visibility issue. It is an OLED display, which is supposed to have excellent sunlight visibility. I should be receiving my sample this week to test.

Good to hear. I thought those things were in very short supply. How does using an OLED display affect the final price?

Standalone devices like the scangauge can get away with <$10 LCDs, because of location. The killer for the YarGauge is having it recessed behind the smoked plastic of the cluster. |

Unless it is Super-AMOLED, which I highly doubt, you have it backwards.
OLED displays are very nice and produce rich colors and deep blacks, but their worst flaw is daylight visibility, which is pretty weak. I wish OLED had great visibilty in the sun but they do not. The reason being is there is no backlight which is found on a traditional LCD. Instead, it uses a bioelectrical chemical to light and this washes out badly in the sun. Just warning you before you make a mistake and buy them. |

CTScott, I use to use this mp3 player back in high school - http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/musicpl...6925p-1,00.htm
It used OLED technology and I was able to read song titles walking around the border of the school during lunch time in the sun. I don't think it should be a problem i the YarGauge as well because the cluster sits a little angled down in the area, doesn't it? it isn't directly sitting flat per say....at least when you install/remove it, it mounts a little tilted... |
