I wouldn't call the manifold a failure till we see the dyno, just because the power output is low on a stock engine doesn't mean it won't work wonders on a non stock application.

I'm with xnamerxx, Turbo set up will benefit the most, especially for systems that are going beyond the 20 or so psi (I think that is the number i remember reading) that the plastic box limits it's self to. either way still a cool product.

can we get a re post of the guesses to see how close everyone was. I don't even remember what i had put.

Good job on seeing that project through. It was a lot of fun to watch.

Next you should swap the TB to a Corolla throttle body :)

Here's a comparative chart of the best of the basline runs and the best of the tooter runs...

It's ok... I can handle a little ridicule, Jason.
Remember that the dyno runs are at wide open throttle and I don't normally drive at wide open throttle. I just drive like a regular transportation driver. And at under partial throttle conditions and low rpms the tooter manifold does perform great. In fact that was one of the things I was most concerned about, whether it would be driveable under normal everyday conditions.

I still need a few more fillups with the tooter to get an accurate comparison to the baseline gas mileage average.

Either your butt dyno is way out of wack, or I am looking at the wrong trace on the dyno, everything I see indicates a loss of power under 5300rpm. The way I see it low end power, and thus driveability has gotten worse. But it looks pretty.

Damn bittersweet ending...thanks for putting the effort out there to find out.

I wonder if could aggressive tuning n/a could make gains along with a larger tb?

Actually...some of that low end loss could be due to the supershort intake

I wonder a long intake into the fender well could make magic happen? I know you have flooding issues so thats a no go for you

Well, that's why I did comparative dyno runs, because they accurately show the difference. Under the partial throttle conditions of normal driving the difference isn't noticeable. If your gas pedal is to the floorboard all the time you're driving then you could notice the difference.

I've been thinking about that too, malibu...
That intake is as physically short as possible to fit the filter. I might try a longer cold air intake just to see what happens. I can always take it off during the wet season. I'm not done experimenting yet.

Harry, at the HK Motorsports Dyno Shop in Van Nuys said that he'd open his place on a Sunday for a $70 Dyno Day if there are at least 5 cars to run. I'm going to post this in the California section just to see if anyone is interested.
