Need help with Audio, speakers??

Im buying an 07 Hatchback and want to know what size speakers do they come with and how many? I think Im going to replace all OEM speakers and get a good radio. Thank you for your help

it has 6 1/2 in front and back. you will need a adapter plate to make it fit back into the hole with the right depth.

Many people make 6.5" fit in the rear, but 5.25" is the correct (stock) size.

As for making adaptors, just do this. Take out the speaker part of the "Speaker assembly and reuse it. This will save a lot of time.

i have a ebay store i sell speaker adapter rings that way you dont ruin your speakers. i can cut any size needed. http://stores.ebay.com/MDF-RING-MAST...eNameZl2QQtZkm i always remove the stereo when i sell a car and put it back to original.

Yeah, when I sell my Yaris I might have to get new stock speakers from the wreckers. Also, when I bought mine, they came to the dealer with no deck installed, to encourage the dealer to try to upgrade. So I asked for them to not install the stereo, and got a hood deflector, trunk mat, and rear bumper protector instead.

i tired to find a car with no stereo and save myself 600 or so for the pkg. but i couldnt find a car anywhere without radio and dealers searched and found nothing. almost all cars here had power pkg and no base. i went through like 7 dealers searching for me till 1 of them called and said they found me a car.

ugh...if you want to save money and mount 6.5"s in the door...cut or pop out the wire mesh of a old 6.5" speaker grill. if you dont have one most stereo install shops have scads of them in their garbage cans.

you can make a spacer ring out of a 6.5" grill if its the right shape, obviously for free.

the pro's in doing this is that you would save the factory speaker in case you ever needed to sell the car, and for two, the plastic on the factory speakers is increadibly thin. you would sacrifice mounting stability and sound quality to use them.

the way I looked at it, I had a set of $180 components. I spent $10 on a set of spacers. I still think it was worth it.

sounds like it will work as long and its solid and seals up the mounting surface. i recommend using a mdf ring like i sell or buy a plastic ring from a stereo shop.

i agree too, but people are talking about using the super thin plastic ring because they dont have money for a good set of spacers. a good solid .5" thick plastic grill can often be found left over from the install of medium grade speakers where the grill is not used.

but yeah, buying one is always the best way...but there are better ways to make a mounting plate for free than to use the 1/8" thick stock plastic speaker housing...

I just ordered 2 pairs of Polk db651's (6 1/2"-6 3/4")for my liftback from Crutchfield for front and back. The salesperson said they won't fit because the tweeter will stick out too far to put the door panel back in place. I've read here before that some make their own rings out of 1/2" or 5/8" mdf board and their speakers fit just fine, different brands though. Has anyone had problems with this? Looking through/at the grill with the stock speakers it looks llike there is plenty of room. Any advice?

should be no problem putting polks in there. i got alpine type-r's in mine and the tweeter is very tall and the magnet is huge. i used 3/4 or 1 inch mdf rings i made.

I just installed the front pair using the thin rings that Polk Audio provides in the box just like sportin83 said and they fit perfectly. The ring is only maybe 1/4" thick and there is plenty of room for the magnet to clear the window and the tweeter is at least 1 1/2" from the door panel when put back in place. The tip about using the rag to get the retainer ring off of the window crank really works, also a tip I'd like to pass along is NOT to drill out the rivets that hold the factory speakers but use a pair of wire cutting pliers to get behind the rivet head and cut them just like cutting wire. It cuts the rivet head right off, and the rivet slides right out. Way faster and easier than drilling. I have no idea why Crutchfield says these and other 6 1/2" speakers won't fit, I put this off for so long, for nothing. The Polks sound way better than the stock ones, duh. I'll install the rears when I get a chance. Just to clairify something above, I bought the db651 models not the db651s which are shallow models.
