Help me please, question regarding HID and depot projectors back to stock
I currently have depot projectors and a HID kit installed. I don't get enough light out of the depot projectors. Anyway I know I could upgrade to a higher watt HID kit, but instead I think I just want to go back to the stock headlights. I am wondering can I just change the bulbs (H1 to H4) and use the ballasts that came with that kit as long as I get the right wattage? I know it's only $60-80 for a new h4 bi-xenon hid kit.. But for $20 I can save a little bit of money and just buy a new set of bulbs..

ballasts are interchangeable pending you using same wattage bulbs...so yes, 35w hid to 35w hid you can change bulbs.
stepping to a 55w hid then no, you will need a new ballast. |

Ballast controls output.
So you can use any HID bulb with the 55W ballast ( I have the 55w ballasts but light ouput still isn't great. I do have 10k bulbs though they are supposed to wash out to 8k). |

That's probably not due to the wattage, though... I'm thinking it could be because your color temperature is so high. The optimal color temp for HIDs (as far as light output) seems to be in the 4K-5K range.
