buying a Yaris hatch in Milwaukee, WI ... Impossible?

Hi All,

My old folks are looking to get a Yaris liftback. They saw heaps when they visited me in Sydney recently but now that they are back home they're having a difficult time getting any help from dealerships. They either seem to have none on the lot, try to sell a different car, or claim the configuration is impossible...

Here's what they want:

Black Sand Pearl 3-Door Liftback 1.5L Manual
+ Side curtain airbags ($650 MSRP)
- no packages (Option Combo A, cold weather, convenience, etc...)

Is this possible? If so, how much should they be looking to pay? (MSRP is $12,420 according to donjacobstoyota.com)

Thanks in advance!

Toyota needs to get off their duffs and get some of these cars on the lots here in the states. I've been noticing lately that if the dealerships have 2 or 3Yaris' on the lot, you're lucky, and you can forget about finding any LB's with any options on any lot. If they're not in a big hurry to get one, I would just one the way I wanted straight from the factory. That's about the only way you'll get one the way you want it.

My dealer here in Mass. has 5 of what you are looking for on the lot. Everything here has the cold weather package. Have them drop ship it. The had 57 Yarii on the lot yesterday according to their inventory. I went searching for someone else. This dealer sells everything on wheels from Toyota to Masarati. He is the largest Honda Dealer in sales in the WORLD!!! Hard to believe but true.

When I was there buying mine, I overheard a conversation in the next cubical with a dealer from Texas looking to get one my dealer had to get shipped to the Texas dealer. They were arranging for transport. They were going to put it on the next truck that came through. Good luck

Boch Toyota. Norwood Mass. Look on Toyota's site.

Check with Wilde Toyota. I had a good experience with them buying my Scion.

i would definetly give Wilde toyota my business again, they were the only dealership in town that would even consider getting me what i wanted. and in the end they did a wonderful job.

orelse there is also suposed to be a "huge" 33 acre or w/e lot on Metro Bulavard, brand new, and grand opening going on now...forget which dealership it was, but new Toyota dealer ship claiming to have huge supplys, would think they may be able to do something for them. I havnt seen this lot yet, but have only heard the radio promos and such for it. But it might be worth a shot, if they havnt tried there yet :)

edit: i just re-read your post, and if they are trying to get it without cold weather pkg in wisconsin, they will likley have to wait for one to be shiped in, from another state, or from the factory....

When I ordered my car last year, I was told cold weather pkg is mandatory in Midwest. So I don't think you can get a car without any option.

Here in Oregon, I was told -- by several dealers -- there were basically four configurations available, and that was that. (All the configurations had the cold-weather package, or a package that included the stuff that comes in the CWP.) The only wiggle room I had was asking them to NOT install the overpriced floor mats when the car arrived off the ship at the Port.

So they may be telling you the truth there in Milwaukee; if you want a very specific set of options you may have to do a custom order.

Thanks all for your replies.

I've gotten word that they've gotten ahold of one and I'm awaiting more details but here's what I know so far:
Meteorite Metallic Liftback - Manual transmision
+ Convenience Package
+ Not sure if they got the side curtain airbags they wanted.
= $12,200 - $3,000 trade in for a '98 Camry (in poor condition)
I've ordered them a Scangauge II so they can start tracking their fuel efficiency and learning how to maximize it.

Ya, here in Oregon, I told them I wanted a Blazing Blue LB, everything but antilock and power. They told me that package was impossible, then found me one in 6 hours. I'm guessing it was a custom order, as it has manual everything, but fill airbag sextet, and that's it...

I'm pretty sure the Convenience Package IS the Cold Weather package, with a few other things thrown in.
