sketch: you need better traction in town than on the highway. That's why they make winter tires, that are less noisy (Yokohama IG20) for more highway miles, for revenge, they are not as sticky on thick snow.

if you are doing in town driving more, snow & ice tires (Hankook Ipike W409) give more traction. But would be noiser for highway driving.
