Perception is such an odd thing. While some curse Winter others seek it. A friend and I will be driving down to Mammoth Lakes for the next two days for some snowboarding and skiing as they are the only place within a day's drive that has any snow right now. Last year our local ski area was fully open by the last week of November but so far this year we have only gotten 2" (5cm) of snow. We are getting by on 1.5 green (beginner) runs and man made snow.

For 1NZYaris1: Not all of your fellow Kiwis seem to like your Summer. I met 4 young men from New Zealand at my local ski area just yesterday morning. They are here on student visas to work as instructors at the ski area until March or April.

It went from rain to ice to snow with icy roads last night and I was traveling in northern VT. Not a good time but the 4 blizzaks pulled through fine.

Dam near went through a tankful of ww fluid from the salt and road dirt

Eh winter, the gas mileage ain't so great, it takes 15 min to get the ice off the windows and dig out the snow from behind it to get out of the parking lot, you have to dodge the idiots sliding at you on the commute in and back out, eh...though its all good, keeps the trouts happy and their water cold, without winter, there is no good fly fishing for trout, so bring it on. It'll make the fishing that much better come spring.
