I don't know. Common sense is that an oil that reduces operating temperature like synthetic oil will extend engine life. Extended life is a direct by product of better protection.

Yeah, SilverGlow needs to find a dino oil that flows at -54 degrees f (Castrol GTX is -31 degrees)
And passing around 10K mile OCI advice is dumb unless it's followed with a footnote about the car already being out of warranty.
IMO, don't listen to any oil advice given out by SilverGlow, ever...he's still using and advising others to use 0W-20 oil in the Yaris eventho' the TSB that Toyota issued couldn't be more clear about not using 0W-20 in the Yaris NZ 1.5
