I also have to buy through ICBC - In British Columbia you HAVE to get base coverage through ICBC, extended coverage can be bought elsewhere but you dont save much unless your 65.....
I pay $125 a month full coverage with $300 deductible and I have 40% discount.
You Americans have it awsome with private insurance...

Its great now but about 4 years ago I pretty much totalled my malibu avoiding a headon with a semi and ICBC bent me over hardcore on that... Ended up with a 10% surcharge (110% insurance rates) plus they fixed the car... I fought with them for 2 full years, wrote letters to the commisioner of ICBC, local MP, local ICBC offices etc etc to dispute my claim and them fixing the car (cost them 10 grand - malibu blue booked at 8500). Every dispute process at ICBC is internal... hence good F'ing luck getting any resolution in your favour. To make a long story short I hadn't been insuring cars for a while... and when I decided this year to check my discount they had nothing on file about any accident...
If you have a family member with good rates....
Needless to say I despise ICBC

I pay $130 a month for full coverage $300 deductable
good driving record, no tickets, no points

I have a small claim on my insurance record for a 50/50 collision that will be off my record this fall. Next year my insurance will be less then $100

What are you guys insuring for such high rates? Does your Yaris have platinum seats or gold tinted windows or something?

I pay $210 per 6 months or $420 for the year (USD). That's for FULL insurance ($1000 deductible collision and $500 comp), $250k/500k/$100k liability.

Oh I forgot to add -- it's a 2007 4 door sedan.

In my case I could have gotten cheaper rates but you have to read the fine print plus it's CND pricing.
A lot of the policies I read over I would not touch with ten foot poll.
My policy is for 2 drivers, includes replacement car ( if involved in an accident costing more then $1000 they don't fix it they replace it)
1,000,000 coverage
flood damage
My coverage covers me in the US as well as Canada

Just a comparison. My old car was a '88 Honda Prelude, my insurance was $1200. Now that I got a yaris, it jumped to $1800. this is with all discounts.

I spend a lot of time driving around Buffalo and surrounding areas in NY.

have you ever taken the time to look at everyones cars in NY?
I crack up at all the newer and some brand new cars over there smashed to shit and duct taped together driving down the streets. Seems like every other car is banged up in one way or another.
Driving through the mall parking lots it easy to spot the out od state or Ontario cars, because they are clean, shiny, new looking and no dents or duct tape LOL
