I'm not a fan of shorter/harder shifting. In my opinion the shifter travel is acceptable and since I autox regularly (wahoo sunday!) I wanted to use more of the low-end power of the Yaris.

The scion xa/xb1 have the same engine and very similar transmissions but they are geared lower to feel sportier and the yaris is geared taller for better mileage. Coming out of a hairpin corner at ~20-30 mph, its really too fast for 1st gear but its horribly low for 2nd and it takes what feels like days for it to reach back up to speed again.

The goal was to not be the fastest thing at autox, but to give the miatas a little more run for their money guess the next step will have to be some r-comps, darn!

I've decided that right now, I don't want the hassle of changing wheels at the track just for the sake of R comps...yet. I'll get stickier tires this summer. Tomorrow, I'm upgrading my brakes with new rotors, pads, and SS lines. My brakes were no good last Sunday so I had to limit my speed in the staightaways.

I regularly change my wheels at autox, part of the ritual I guess.

GL with your new brakes! Our courses usually run 70-90 seconds and its pretty technical. Rarely do we ever cross 65-70mph on the course so the stock brakes are fantastic, and if I'm changing class - I'm getting r-comps! (....or more power)

Guess it would be weird having a stock yaris (w/spings and sway) be in FSP...

You have enough time to hit 65 - 70? No way do we have enough time to get that fast. In fact, they've thrown in a slalom once because a section was too straight. Half the people DNF'd their first run because it wasn't there during the course walkthrough.

How long have you been racing? Does your BF race too?

Good photos in the Bambo thread Jill. I'm just about to go home from work.

No info yet. Guess the military doesn't want everyone to know when they are moving that many people around.
