Finally got it in. For my Pioneer I used my dremel to grind down all six of the positioning stubs. Then I moved the brackets forward until the top front hole was over the front-most screw hole for Toyota mounting points on the Pioneer HU. The top rear hole is now over the hole where the top rear positioning stub used to be.
In this mounting position, I use one of the original mounting bracket screws for the front hole and a short, self-tapping screw for the rear hole (the one that used to be for the positioning stub): ![]() This is the best I could get it. The front bottom edge of the HU is flush / right up against the bottom edge of the new trim piece. The front top edge of the HU is further back so there's a small gap between that top edge of the HU and the top edge of the new trim piece. I'll have to cut the top edge of the stick on bezel that the Pioneer HU came with so I can stick that to the top edge of the front of the HU. Should take care of that gap. With this new trim piece and the way I had to mount the HU, the HU now sits further back so it's more recessed. I like how this looks. ![]() ![]() Scott, I still need another one of these trim pieces. One of my friends has asked me to install a new HU in his Yaris and he wants me to get one of these for him. Please keep me on the list for your next possible group buy. Last edited by IsLNdbOi; 05-26-2009 at 08:34 AM. |

There is a small amount of up/down movement of the HU that can be realized via the 4 screws securing it to the dash assembly. Holding the HU in place with the 4 screws slightly loose, try sliding it up and down. You should notice that you will be able to raise the HU about 1/16". Give it a shot.

I tried re-positioning the HU. Loosened the four screws holding the mounting brackets in then pushed up on the bottom of the HU to raise it as much as possible. While holding it up, I tightened the screws. Helped a little bit, but the gap was still very visible. So, I took that plastic trim pieces that comes with the HU and cut it up so all I had left was the piece that goes along the top edge of front of the HU.
Looks better now:

I'm all out of the ones from the group buy at this point. From the Philippines you would probably be able to order the part from a Toyota dealership in Australia (I believe that the Toyota Follow-me package is offered as an option there). If not, it's readily available from Europe.

Cool, well, count me in, I'll pay right away! What other pieces were you thinking about getting from over there? I love stuff like this!
Thanks in advance for all the work and planning you've done for the forum. Doug |

There are a couple of people who are looking for the vertical trim pieces that would be required to use some of the Chinese HU's. Also, I am going to get a new set of center caps for my TTE wheels, and I am seriously considering getting a European RS front bumper for my 09. |
