Another used Yaris I am looking at >> Carfax

'07 red, auto, basic options, asking price 11k
Carfax report
http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...HistorySection
Anything I should be concerned about?
The low mileage?
Sold at auction last month as fleet vehicle?
Thanks.

*update: bought a different Yaris

This might seem weird but I am really concerned about the low mileage especially it was a leased vehicle. Less than 4k miles in 2 years?

It says private lease, to a private person. I could be wrong but I think that's when people lease the car from the dealer for a determined period of time (usually 3 years).

I like the way this car looks in paper!!! I'd get it (after inspection, of course, and don't forget to test drive it to make sure you're OK with the car handles)

Low mileage could mean that someone is using it as a grocery getter mostly, kind of like me these days. Not that uncommon in the Bay Area.

I'd get off the computer immediately and check it out in person. Good luck!

Sold last month as fleet vehicle? You know, you need to ask the members who have experience with that sort of stuff, leasing, etc. but I think it's standard language. I see that the oil was changed at 3K, that the vehicle is under manufacturer's warranty. Plus, you're in California, and there are lemon laws here.

I'd get it, if the test drive feels good and if the dealership shows you a piece of paper that shows that the car passed a thorough inspection. Mine was "Certified", had over 30K already. Don't know what they do when the car is still under manufacturer's warranty.

Come on back and ask more questions if you want, this is definitely the right place to ask qustions about buying a Yaris!

Don't forget, sales tax , fees, etc., will come up to almost 10% of the price.

good luck.

Tomato you are a great person and so are most people here I'm sure.
Currently in contact with a sales rep via email.
Dealer is a little more than an hour drive from us.
I'm trying to get a good out-the-door price.

oh, thanks! I have my moments, you know, but I do try

People in this forum were most helpful to me when I was buying my Yaris, so I'm glad to return the favor.

You're doing the right thing, doing it by email. I didn't know any better and just showed up and did the negotiating in person. They dropped the price a little bit, but then by the time they tagged on sales tax and fees, I was right back where I started. Oh, well, live and learn.

Consumer Reports says the Yaris 2007 and up is a "good bet", especially from the mechanical standpoint. People complain about the paint being thin, though.

Overall, I think the Yaris is a good value. Not the perfect car, but pretty damn good for the price.

Let us know how it's working out for you and if you have any questions or want feedback.

My girlfriend bought a brand new Toyota Rav4 in January of this year. At the end of April she had put 1,000 miles on it. Some people just don't drive that much.
