doesn't matter as long as there is minimal resistance in the circuit... So... connect it well to something that is connected well to the battery and you'll have no problems.
Keep in mind... digitals aren't very good and showing drops or spikes in voltage since they only take one fraction of a second worth of info and only refresh one or two times a second. If you did a 30hz sine wave at full volume that was only .25 second long, there's a good chance you wouldn't see the full extent of the voltage drop... yeah... you'll see some. but not all. You'll see more of an average. Scanguage as a voltage reader.... it generally stays in the 13.8-14.1 range when i've been cruising for more than 20minutes
