With such an obvious improvement to effectiveness (and efficiency) of AC system you would think Toyota would develop a standardized 'fix,' provide a service bulletin to their dealerships, thus allowing them to bill their customary 'arm and leg' charges for those customers willing and able to go that route.

I agree.

I still want to assume that they probably NOT do this in order to save on building costs. Because if you look at the whole car itself, there isn't another part that is insulated. So I imagine that they probably thought "why purchase insulating foam (or other material) for one stretch of pipe" and just left it at that?

I've ony had my Yaris for a couple of weeks now, however it's becoming rapidly evident that Toyota left no stone unturned in its effort to cut cost to a minimum.

I'm not complaining as I wanted an inexpensive, no frills car.

As to why no TSB on this issue.... If they had one, that would be like admitting that there is a problem.
