I say slow in relative terms, as in what the guy (who feels the need to do 50 in a 35) would think.
And at times I do 55 in the slow lane on I-91. That's the minimum safe speed to drive at on the highway (I can go quote my drivers manual too if you want - I keep it in the glovebox.) Also, the posted speed limit is subject to change due to weather conditions as well. In Massachusetts at least, it is possible to get a ticket for doing the posted speed limit if weather were to permit it -- say a light covering of snow on the ground. Something most people would tend to ignore.

I don't drive way below speed limits, but normally am right on whatever the speed limit is. That commonly gets folks right on my bumper (on four lanes) trying to "push" me, then zooming around.
