Scary. I hate to see how much that will cost to fix. What is that red V thing? TRD?

7 out of the 43 votes had mechanical failure before 50k miles? not good. i hope many of those were self induced.

It's silly to think that a poll on a forum like this tells you anything meaningful about the reliability of the car. It's self-reported, and people who've had a problem are the ones most likely to reply. And we're a small segment of Yaris freaks anyway. You'll have to look at the larger surveys like J.D. Power, Toyota's, etc. for any sort of meaningful numbers.

also held its value better than almost any car in its segment. 3 years after purchase (for $12,500) a pristine xA with my mileage could still retail for $11,200. try finding any other car that held it's value that well

No mechanical problems, although the rear defroster had one line that wasn't working and I had the dash rattle. I don't really count those as mechanical failure.

what skews it is that a disproportionate percentage of YW members modify their cars vs the general population of yaris owners, since im certain 99+% of them never give any thought to modifications. |

Right front wheel bearing went at approximately 8000km/5000miles.

does a flat tire count lol? About to hit 4,000 miles and am getting the low tire pressure signal =( I got it a few days ago, filled the tire with air, was ok for a day, now its back! Guessing there must be a hole.

Yea, the one that looks like (!) manual says "Indicates low tire inflation pressure" that basically means "indicates flat tire" right?
The thing is, none of the tires look flat. There's no bulging at the bottom. But when we tested them the first time, one did have a significantly lower pressure so I don't think the light is malfunctioning... but like I said, nothing looks flat. Going to a mechanic today that can hopefully find and patch a hole, I don't want to buy a new tire! |

That signal looks like a "moon" smiley.
It goes off when the tire pressure gets down to about 25 PSI, which doesn't look "flat" but is certainly too low. Our basic TPMS system doesn't tell you which tire is down, just that one or more is, and it doesn't affect it when the tires are rotated. |
