Yeah, I believe it's possible. The CRX is so much lighter and about 2/3rd the height of the Yaris. The HF version was supposed to get up to 50 MPG but to be honest, I never got more than approx. 30, which was still pretty damn good back then.

By 205 km/h (GPS) it revs 6281 rpm. ( also on the German Autobahn) BTW Mabey a gearbox from a diesel have a "longer" fift gear a you can put him in your gearbox. |

TRD Japan actually offered a shorter and longer gear ratio option for the C56 tranny on your 1st gen TS. You would probably have to get it from japan and it would be pretty expensive.
A MUCh cheaper and feasible option is to get an used tranny from a US spec Toyota ECHO. It should be a direct swap and the gear ratios are way longer! (meant for US highway driving and fuel economy)

If you have a TRD part number, I can get it from Japan.

^ I looooooooove
the CRX. Mine was going on 23 y old when I traded her for the Yaris. It was a tough transition, let me tell ya. That car was a lot of fun to drive, even stock, and yes, you could get some speed out of the HF, too. I wish I could have kept it, but I needed a low maintenance DD and a car that age always wants a little something fixed, you know Here she is. http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/alb...pictureid=1555 Man, I loved the handling of that car. Sure miss it at times ![]() My brother had the SI, a little more power than mine. Damn these were good cars!! Sorry about the thread jack. |

i have also had mine up to 115mph and it's not that bad but i've only done it a few times here and there (when i'm really late for work) but i just don't think i would feel good about sustaining that speed for a very long time and especially not frequently.

I've just noticed that a lower number for final drive means higher top speed. I thought it was the otherwise. That means TRD actually makes a longer final drive for the yaris, albeit it has been discontinued.
http://trdparts.jp/english/list_race-mis_ncp13.html. Look at the gearing chart, stock maxes around 220, and the TRD maxes at almost 250. These are theoretical max speed however.. |
