Happy you're OK. The Yaris did it's job and crumpled short of the cabin.

No, you better hope it is totaled otherwise you'll be driving around a salvaged Yaris that can never be the same instead of a brand new Yaris supplied by the insurance company.

I was watching the approaching car heading north-bound on the far right lane to ensure it wasn't going to change lanes while I was going to enter the left lane. Once I felt safe that they were not going to change lanes, I looked ahead to see the giant grill of a chevy silverado staring right at me in the face.
Exactly what I would've done in that situation as well. Overall the accident is a crappy situation. I think she's at fault but others might not be as convinced.

Good luck with the recovery. If they claim the car totaled make sure you grab parts out of it to sell on here =)

Yeah, that's what everyone I've talked to has said.

You know, I have no clue. But the sound was pretty impressive. A nice *crunch* if you will.

Yeah, I am aching today. Neck/chest/waist (seat belt) and my knee (from hitting the dash I suppose).

buttt according to your drawing what you did was illegal, you cant cross over 3 lanes of traffic at the same time, i know because ive been given a ticket for it before

edit: and also she has the right to turn left before you to turn right :-/
Two things:
  1. I didn't cross 3 lanes of traffic, but rather 2 lanes of traffic and a center turning lane, so I'm covered there.
  2. We were both turning left.
  3. Actually, the person turning right vs the lefty has the right of way, hence the term "right of way."

maybe even go as far as to write a letter to DOT, complaining about the precariousness of that section of road; with enough accidents and complaints, they'll probably look into it and fix it.
There is no way to "fix" it, due to the setup of the parking lots in the area. I'm just gonna go out the other way from my apartment complex from now on. I only have one working car left lol.

If by others you mean, the witnesses, myself, the people I talked to, and other "officials speaking off the record" then yes, they all agree it was her fault. I really want to stay out of the court room but if I have to I'm prepared.

Lol. If it weren't totaled, it wouldn't be salvaged. Just a potentially shitty ride.

yeah...LOL

only do this if you can afford jail time if you get caught. if it is totaled, the insurance company owns every last scrap, and only the insurance company can dictate where the parts go. usually to an auction house.

if you get a total-loss, and insurance buys a replacement vehicle...taking parts is theft. could lead to a lifetime of no insurance for any vehicle ever again. so be warned.

Holy crap I don't want that!!!

At least I have some extra trim pieces laying around from in progress or future projects.

What sucks though is my ice scraper was in my Yaris, and it snowed last night, so my cavalier window is gonna be all frozen and stuff and I have no way to scrape it off. Awesome.

I don't know yet. Depends on even if they say it's totaled, how much I get for it, and now I'm thinking I might wait until I find out where my next duty station will be.

Wow, that is a terrible crash. Glad you're okay.
Why are so many Yarii going down? Is there a Yaris serial killer out there?

well, it actually looks great. crushed by design.

the people in the Yaris are fine and the front
end ate the damage. that is a win in my book (major pita overall)

get one of those Chinese or Indian small delivery trucks (not legal in USA)
and smack a Yaris into it... you'd need body bags..and not for the Yaris driver.

AND THE OFFICIAL POLICE REPORT SAYS:

Not my fault.

So, one down, two to go:
  1. Police: not my fault
  2. Insurance: not my fault
  3. Car status: totaled

That's awesome

So your next Yaris: basic model or S?

meh get the basic, then use the money you save for better mods... The extra money the s version costs still isn't worth it IMHO...
