The stick is just a lot more fun - keeps me awake, too.
The term automatic transmission makes me think of the gas powered cars we got to drive as kids on the Disneyland Autopia ride. You'd put your foot down to the floor and eventually they would pick up speed! At least our brakes don't go on automatically when we lift our foot off of the gas!!! (From someone who was there on the 3rd day Disneyland was open in 1955.)
