From all accounts, the stock Potenza RE92s seem to be crap. Why does Toyota install such lousy tires?

Cheapest for them?

Remember, if they can save $5 per car, over a million cars, that's an extra 5 million earned.

The stock RE92's are not the cheapest 185/60/15 on tire-rack, they are actually one of the more expensive.

my michelin x-ice has better dry traction than the stock re92
Yes, great traction, but studless winter specific tires wear extremly fast on dry roads. I was actually trying to point out some descent all-season tires for those of us that can't afford winter specific and summer specific tires.

Tirerack.com doesn't carry (or rate) the Nokian WR, which seems to be the best all-around winter tire choice to me.
Agreed, but Nokian WR's cost $102 each?

Also, I just siped my RE92's.(Saving money) Waiting for snow now to see if there is any improvment.
