Question Sony RM-X4S adapter for JVC KD-AVX77?

Hey CTScott how difficult would it be for you to create some kind of adapter to get this:

Sony RM-X4S
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158RMX4S/Sony-RM-X4S.html

working with this:

JVC KD-AVX77
http://mobile.jvc.com/product.jsp?mo...484&pathId=133

The JVC has a 3.5mm wired remote input, but I don't think they work out of the box with this Sony remote like Pioneer HUs do. This is the next best thing to steering wheel controls we can get.

If you can find the schematic on line for the sony remote and for the remote that would go with the JVC, it probably would be very simple. On my Xterra I have a Sony HU that I wired to the X's steering wheel controls. I just took the X's steering wheel control apart and changed the resistor values to what the Sony needed to see for those same functions.

This is all I could find for the RM-X4S:

specifically this post:

Here are some other sites that might have some useful info.:

There isn't a specific wired remote though for the AVX77, its 3.5mm remote input is supposed to be used w/ aftermarket steering wheel remote adapters so you can use your car's built in steering wheel controls w/ the AVX77.

Here's one of the many aftermarket JVC to OEM steering wheel adapters (this is the one JVC lists on their website as well):
Metra AXXESS ASWC

I know this is further off topic, but it goes along with the last few posts. Since the AVX77 already has a wireless IR remote, you should probably look into steering wheel controls that are IR.
In the S2000 forums, there was a guy named modifry (modifry.com) and be made a DCI which is a Dashboard Control Interface (s2ks had dash control radio instead of steering wheel control). So the five functions on the dash were sent to a little controller with an IR LED that went somewhere near the radio. Hit the wired button and it would convert it to an IR. He made it universal, so you selected a couple dip switches to change radio brands.

Back before I had the Pioneer that this AVX77 replaced, I found that modifry site too. I emailed him asking if his wired DCI adapter would let the RM-X4S work with Pioneer head units. He never responded so I tried it (the RM-X4S w/ the Pioneer) and it worked.

I emailed him again this past week asking if his DCI adapter would let the RM-X4S work with the AVX77 and he hasn't responded.

That's a nice little JVC piece...enjoy it. I was actually looking at that initially before we went Carrozzeria.

He probably gets a ton of emails asking what compatible with what... I know he's been approached with making the same for other cars and he's not interested, so I can see him not responding if you aren't planning on buying.

Well, the thing is I am planning on buying if he can make something to get the RM-X4S working with the AVX77.

I'd buy a second AVX77 and RM-X4S and send it to CTScott so he could make me something, but I don't have the money for that.

Just a small update. I purchased an AXXESS ASWC universal steering wheel adapter (made by Metra) and it works.

I now have my Sony RM-X4S connected to my JVX AVX77 and they're fully functional together.

The ASWC is programmable. All I had to do was give AXXESS / Metra the schematics for the Sony RM-X4S and they were able to add it in a firmware update for the ASWC.
