we need to open the butterfly valve right?..or just spray with the valve closed?

Once you have cleaned it , install a catch can on the engine breathers
your car will thank you for it .
And so will your wallet

Yes I'm wondering the same thing... How delicate is this butterfly valve, and should i touch it?

They're typically quite sturdy, but I've never seen the one on the Yaris. When I clean the TB on my Jeep I either manually open the valve with my finger or use the mechanical lever on the side of the TB.
