Felt Like Sharing
Just wanted to share my 99% freeway mileage. It was just a 33.2 mile trip (after fueling up).
![]() ![]() ![]() That's 51.5 mpg averaging 62 mph. Pretty good imo. hahahaha. That average fuel economy will go down tomorrow since I'll be driving around town a lot for errands. |

Nice!
I had a good day yesterday, too. Average of about 53 (corrected to 50.3 due to tire size) for around 60 miles of cruising around town. Will be interesting to see if my figures actually improve when I put a proper diameter tire back on the car. |

is good to have a economy car because the gas is everyday going up and we received less money everyday, is a good idea know the car.

I've been driving mine like it's stolen this week, using Valero fuel
, hitting near 80mph on the freeway , trying to let no one pass me; refueled this morning: 42.91 mpg ![]() Been near freezing or below most mornings. |

How'd you manage to get that high mileage while going 80? Mine will chug gas if I went that fast.

I'm sure not a hypermiler, but I've always gotten better than I feel I should. Very first tank was over 43 mpg, have gotten over 44 mpg. Almost always drive 65-70 mpg on the freeway, and go 80 mph once in awhile (caught myself doing 80 mph about 3 times this week)...in fact, just yesterday on the way home to stay in front of a runaway dump truck that was blowing its load of sand on everybody behind him. The last time I can remember getting below 40 mpg was winter of '08, and I use real gas unless it can't be avoided...probably used E10 maybe 2 times within the last year or so.

It's the "trip average" that I can constantly keep making obvious improvements to that keeps me at it. As I've said before... it's all a game for me. For as little as I drive, it wouldn't kill me to get 25 mpg. But, striving for better MPG is more challenging and safer (and generally more legal, except for the occasional rolled-through stop sign) than my old habit of "how fast can I take this curve today?" |

^ I do that, but I probably accelerate more than I should (people in Sacramento and Vallejo are idiots and will run into you). My throttle is in between 25-30 when I accelerate from a stop, but if there's no one behind me, that drops down to 20-23. Same with FAS. I'll do it as late as possible without risking getting rear ended, but again, if no one is behind me, I'll shut off the engine WAY farther back.
Places I travel have a lot of of stop signs and stop lights (and for some reason, red lights love to turn red on me before I reach them, it's like they aim for me). So may be that's why I'm not getting as high as I should be??? For the stop signs and majority of lights, I'll just use DFCO or coast in neutral (for the stop signs). For the lights that I know will take a longer time, I'll FAS it. |

Now that the weather is nice here, I've gone from 32mpg to 34mpg without doing anything differently. Less engine warm-up time is good.
Can't wait until the rest of the snow is gone. |
