I believe I have the RS spoiler that he is referring to. I installed it with only 3M tape at first and you can definitely get it to come off if you really try. What's to say that highway speeds and a little wind won't do the same?

It's just adding two screws into your car.

That is correct. Ryan has the wing spoiler. I wouldn't even entertain tape as the only fastener to use with something of that size and weight.

Side question - where the hell can I find 3M tape. CTC carries some other brand of 'trim tape', but I want the real thing.

My spoiler weighs 2 pounds. I guarantee yours weighs more.

3M tape won't damage your car, no need to drill and ask for corrosion if water gets inside and is easily removable
Sorry, I forgot there were people here who know everything better than anyone else. My apartments don't allow me to wash my car there, and sometimes I just feel like letting someone else do the work.

Nothin wrong with tape, just said that in my opinion, defication occurs and better safe than sorry.

3M tape holds like like cement. I have the RS spoiler, and for some reason the screws heads are popping out from the holes, so my hole cover caps are a bit at a slant (35 degrees)....used 3M tape to hold them down. ow, I have had them on for 1 year and couple months now, do they hold?

Hell yea! Drove to Tahoe in the snow, drove in the rain, all while doing 70mph+, easily the best thing to use

Go for it, and enjoy~

the answer is yes. 3M tape is tough shit. My eyelids and spoiler are held by 3M tape. My spoiler lived through 2 crazy winters already and my eyelids lived through 1 winter. So far so good!

Spoiler is now mounted.

Given that this thing is slim, weighs 2 lbs, and uses slightly more than 6 feet of tape to mount, I used only 3M tape. No screws at this time.

Mine fell off a while ago with just 3M tape. Just sold it to a member here a few month's back. I had the JDM RS spoiler.

it's good enough to hold it. it's supplied with the spoiler from the factory...so if it's good enough for them then it is for me.

also, look around the junkyard. any spoiler you see out there is likely held on w 3m tape and they're mostly from mid 80's to 90's...it should last

also, emblems on your car are held on w that crap...they never come off.

use alcohol to clean surfaces, get all the old tape off, and apply on all surface area that should 'touch' together and you wont have a problem. anyone who's had problems likely didnt have enough tape on it or didnt prep right. so be sure not to wax the car before you put it on there lol...cuz that wont work.

I used to apply vinyl to cars for a living. I know how to prep surfaces. Some spoilers are simply too big to be mounted with 3M tape. The OEM lip spoiler may not be one of them (according to this thread). But the JDM RS spoiler is in my personal experience.

A combo of both tape and screws will do the job. I recently purchased an oem replica spoiler for the liftback. Looked nice, but was at least 8 pounds and was only held together with 3m tape. The spoiler started falling off by the next day. If the spoiler is lightweight, 3m tape will do. If it's heavy, it better be screwed down!
