I've installed both factory and aftermarket spoilers on several cars. The key is to take your time and make sure you have the templates lined up perfectly. Then use a center puch to mark the locations of the holes to be drilled. Start small (the smallest bit you can use) and step your way up until you reached the desired size. I then like to de-bur the holes and apply several coats of touch-up paint to the insides of the holes. I also like to put a little silicone sealant in the holes right before I install the spoiler.
One other tip I would give, is to mask off the back of the car, including taping up seams and such. That way you don't get metal filings everywhere. BTW, I just did an OEM spoiler install on my Yaris. Went very smoothly...no issues. |

The aftermarket RS-style spoiler I installed did not line-up with the oem locations I've seen on other cars. Mine came w/o a spoiler, so I had no pre-drilled holes, but I had to do some searching to figure out the best way to drill and use the hole locations on the new spoiler. If you don't want to drill into the inner wall of the liftgate, you can use an expanding "bolt" that anchors itself, kinda like a sheetrock anchor. If not, you'll have to drill through 2 layers of metal and anchor on a very angled piece of metal on the inside of the liftgate, near the hinges.

I would just use double-sided tape. I recently bought the RBK spoiler and the instructions tell you to drill from the inside of the hatch into the spoiler. It was a pita to drill, and it seemed the drill bit did not want to go through. I just used the tape, and that bad boy isn't going anywhere(yet).
