USA car? Its a Fiesta, a true european car. It came to the US because smaller cars with lower gas consumption became popular. I drove this Fiesta from 2008-2009 as a company car. It had a turbocharged Diesel engine and was able to make 60-65 mpg.

There are dozens of cars in Europe and Asia which can compete with the Yaris and i am sure many of them could make it to the US soon.

Unfortunately, no. It seems that we don't get most of what is available to the rest of the world. You spoke of a diesel Fiesta, yeah, we probably won't ever get that. Heck, we can't even get the Yaris in diesel.

Pretty much unless it's a truck or large SUV, the only way we see a diesel is from the high end manufacturers that charge an arm and a leg.

As for smaller cars and lower gas consumption becoming popular in the US, you clearly havn't driven on the roads here lately. They are still littered with large gas guzzlers. Even most of the cars on the roads are gas guzzlers.

Maybe these cars are not popular in general but they are getting MORE popular else they would not sell them in the US. Diesel engines are expensive maybe you will not see any small car with a diesel engine.

Small cars are very, very common here since the costs of driving a car are getting higher and higher every year. And btw our streets and parking lots are smaller, too.

Yeah, I know that European cars are vastly more fuel efficient than USA cars. To me, I am just glad that Ford decided to go with bringing this car here. My primary reason for buying the Yaris was because of its MPG.
