System install
okay, so here is the deal, i've finally done it! i'm finally putting in a system. its going to comprise of 1 stock deck, 3 high low adapters, 4 indoor 135 watt 6" speakers, one 5 (maybe even a 7) channel amp and 2 10" or 12" subs in custom built box into the floor of my 2010 yaris HB.
here are the big things about my setup, it will be removable within 5 mins to allow me to put car back to normal/laod the crap out of it like i sometimes requre to do. it will be built in a way that i can still put stuff on it (i will lose sound quality but my car wont be useless) and the big winner number 3, all this will cost me less then $400 bucks and will be all quailty components and quality sound. now ure turn...what do u think? lol the only thing i am missing is that sound deaddening stuff but that will by far blow my budget. i plan to take pics of progress and post it, i am planning and hoping to make a show quality system and yet keeping functionality of my car.

I have never seen a 7channel amp?
If your goal is to be able to use the car and loaded with groceries for example, get a small subwoofer amplified box, make all your connections with terminals that can be easy on/off. So you can remove it in less than 5 minutes. If I ware you I would spend $200 on an amplified subwoofer box + amp kit, $50 in a pair of good 6.5in front speakers and $150 in deadening material for the doors and fire wall. This would be a very good improvement from OEM system for under $400 my 2 cts. (o: Derick

that sounds do-able but my view on the deadening material is that unless u do the firewall, doors (including hatch) and trunk space its not worth it. after pricing out some stuff, that came up to almost $250

I have one four channel and one mono amp, those combined with the 4gauge wireing kit were over $400.
I suggest you keep it simple if you want easy removal and to stay under budget. An amplified bazooka tube is more than enough to accent the stock stereo/door speakers if you go that route.

okay, so its jsut about done. sorry for the long delay but i have been so busy.
i did fail at my budget, i was slightly over $550 but man am i happy with it. also its not as removable as expected, it can be but it is delicate and really doesn't need to be removed. only thing left is to find a plexie glass top for it and 2 comp fans (amp gets quite hot after an hour commute) i will post pics up hopefully in the morning if weather allows. parts used: 2 180 watts 2 way 6.5" rear speakers (powerbass brand) 2 160 watts 2 way 6.5" component speakers in front (ample brand) with 2 1" tweeters 1 1400 watt kenwood excelon 12" shallow sub 1 wiring kit (5G power wire and .5F capasitor) 1 eclipse 5 channel amp 1 clarion EQ 1 highlow adapter shit load of speakerwire (16G i believe) and homemade box and floorboard made of 3/4" MDF board

How is the fusing under the hood? I'm not a fan of the split cap and amplifier. I know why you did it (symmetry), but that cap needs to be close to the amp it's filtering/storing the power for.
Okay, here's what I'd do. That exposed wire bothers me. What I see is "loose" wiring running across the trunk. You've put the amp and cap on a board, correct? Why not run the wire UNDER ther board? You can cut a hole with a small hole saw to have the wiring come up throught the board to the cap and then go back through again to hide it. At the amplifier, you can make another hole for the final power and ground to go through. On the underside you can clamp down the wiring from moving. That way when the bass hits you can eliminate the possibility of wire movement. I think clean, clean, clean. I really like the creativity of the raised plexi! Now, find a way to scuff up the cutout edges, put some LEDs on the end and watch what happens!

Lol, I agree with u, I love to have things clean and symmetrical but I left those 2 wires( ground and power) visible for some mechanical look. My first test fit had the amp and cap under the board but didn't like it. The EQ already has a few leds and I like the look but I have been so busy haven't had time to put more in. Also plan on getting 2 computer fans to cool it down a bit. As for the plexi, its not the final product, that was a test fit/look. I cut the logo out by hand with a dremel, I think it turned out very nice considering. But its only on 1/4 thick plexi ( had it laying around my house) so I'm waiting to find a 1/2 or even 3/4 inch thick as I plan on using and abusing the surface ( a roll up cover will be kept in car) also that one will be carved out by a pro and friend at cnc shop. And what do u mean about the cap needing to be close to amp? I was under impression it does not matter where

Why don't you take the plexiglass out and do some sanding to smooth out those cuts? Just a few minutes with a dremel and some low grit sandpaper and you could have that looking NICE! IMO it would look a lot better if you did that. I like how it's going though!

i completly agree. i have been so busy but the plan is to get thicker plexi (half inch if not 3/4) and use a CNC to cut it out and frost patterns (smaller toyota logos all over it)....with school and work i havent had a chance to go out and hunt for the plexi glass (ive gone to all the "regular" stores in the area.) that part is still a work in progress. by spring it will be done for sure.

Ah, I understand about school. I just graduated last December. So glad I don't have that crap to bother me anymore lol. I can't think of anywhere offhand that would have 1/2" plexi in stock, but the Lowe's here can order plexi in thicknesses like that. I used to have a sheet of 1/2" plexi that we setup a camera behind when making epic 4th of July explosives.
