Yeah, SE of Eugene by about 20 mins. If/when you head out this way, fabing either pilar pods for the mids & tweets would be what i'd prefer to do.. but doing a lil midbass install would work too. Pods for the mids & tweets is what i'd need assistance with most tho.

.

Sqcomp... you need to blow away all that dust... or turn on the volume and blast the dust away!

The HAT speakers look awesome!

Real Time Analyzer... basically its just a tool that will show him the frequency response inside his car... its one thing to design a flat response on a computer... its another thing to put speakers in a funky shaped space (like a car) with reflective surfaces and get a flat response.

Once he runs a slow sine sweep from 20khz down to 20hz with the microphone around head rest level he'll have a decent idea of what frequencies he's missing, and which are way too strong... from there he can use his eq to cut the strong frequencies, and boost the weak ones.

It is generally a good idea to focus mostly on cutting, than on boosting due to issues with clipping, and the fact that it is easier to tell a speaker to play something softer than to work harder.

Another thing... a flat response would sound boring and lacking bass for most people...so he may end up eq'ing for something other than a flat response... like a response that slightly increases as it drops below 200hz.

i've never had an rta... but it would be a fun tool to play with... i'll put it on the list of toys along with the O scope, signal generator, and clamp meter (amp-meter)
