Back when I had my (classic) VW Beetle a flash of the lights from a fellow Beetle was not uncommon. When I had my Japanese motorcycle, you would ocassionally get a flash from a fellow Japanese motorcycle rider. Harley Riders were more or less indifferent, if not hostile.

As far as a the Yaris, never, but I did have a friendly encounter with another Yaris owner. I have a Jade Yaris Sedan. Yaris Sedans in NJ are a little rare. So when I pulled up next to a red Yaris Sedan at the deli I took notice of it. I went in to get my sandwich. When I got out the red one was still there and a blue Yaris Sedan pulled up on the other side of me. As I go to get in my car the guy in the blue Yaris Sedan said to me "Three Yaris in a row". I said back "Three Sedans in a row, that's even more rare" I should have spoken more to him to see if a reader of this site.

Welcome to all the new people btw.

I used to wave but now there are way too many Yarii around here and people look at me funny if I wave. I'll still give the thumbs up if I can tell the driver is looking at my car. After all, we do have the most stylish car on the road
I know, quite the paradox eh? Online and real world are just different to me. *Shrug*

There are so many around here, acknowledging them would just make me look weird. lol I see a minimum of 2 different stock Yarii daily. in the 15 min on the way to work, and the way back.

Also the local Domino's pizza uses them as delivery cars and there is a small fleet of white hatches and sedans belonging to a health clinic near my work.

But only ever seen 2 modded hatches :(

In New England I've been trying to say "Hi" wave or thumbs up, but with very negative results, most of the time they turn their heads like "I'm not paying attention to you" or

they start racing against me!

I just let them go. It's sad. Where I come from everybody waves at you. (well they used to, not anymore)

My Yaris have given me the perfect opportunity to flirt with a very attractive woman who's path crosses with mine occasionally.

Funny that after my post above I went to office depot and as soon as I shut the door of my car a guy walking by says... Hey I didn't know that Yaris get the "S" version! and then we chit chat for a while, he had a new corolla LE parked next to my Yaris though!

I've seen an unprecedented number of Yari (and in particular black liftbacks) over the last month or so in the indianapolis area... it makes me happy I even have played with them a bit on the highway... so much fun to check out other Yari while cruising down the road...

Yesterday a couple in a red liftback (out of state plates) going south on I-5 (near Olympia) pulled up beside me and gave me a friendly wave and than passed me.

People look at me like I am high on crack or meth...my argument is that when you are a biker (which I am as well) it is "OK" to do the side wave and such, but if you have a car you are a short bus candidate...F'em all I say!

oh yeah, I ran into a lady last week, spoke to her for a bit about the car...she has a silver 08 sedan and now a new black 3dr LB. The LB had been her husband's but he passed away 2 months ago of lung issues. I felt compassion for her; she was driving the LB that day. I asked her to let me check for a cabin air filter and there was of course nothing there! I installed one of my homemade filters and gave her an extra one for her sedan cause I figured that it was missing in that one as well.

haha, funny thread! I used to flash my lights, then I started to wonder if the other yaris was thinking that there was a speed trap up ahead. I basically keep it to a min. unless I see the other car on a regular basis. We should have a code, that would be awsome, like 2 fast 1 slow flash of the high beams. OR! just roll down the window and wave with both hands like an idiot!LOL
