every other thursday night (oddly enough in my entire life i have only seen 3 or 4 ride checks take place on either a friday, saturday or sunday) i drive through a ride check on the same strip of road on my way home from work. and it is in the middle of nowhere. i work in an industrial area which is surrounded by major city cores. i live on the opposite outskirts of one of those cities (for anyone who knows the Ontario GTA area, i work in the Toronto Airport Area (rexdale) and live in the outskirts of brampton between brampton and caledon) and i have never seen a ride check in a populated area.

that is part of what I was talking about having your stuff together...there isn't a federal law regarding license plate frame lighting therefore it falls on your state statutes. If you state says no then you can't. Since you didn't they couldn't give you a ticket. Hell, many times they might harass just cause they want to check out your ride without admitting it...lol

That is crazy! I've never actually been through a road check, which is a good thing. Although I remember one time when I was drinking with a bunch of friends on a beach, i told a cop who asked us what we were doing,"we are having fun, we aren't doing anything illegal." And the cop drove away. i think it was some sort of jedi mind trick. You should have seen the looks on my friends faces, they were all scared to death.

Good lord. I have been through dozens of road checks in my time. Maybe because lots of people drink and do drugs around here? I don't know. Excuse me while I take a sip. ;)

Road checks save lives, period. They help you and everyone else on the road, period. No disrespect guys, but you can't always think negative when it comes to these things and law enforcement. It's their job and the majority of them do it well. It's always the blame game when it comes to tickets and speeding. Yes, there a lot of new and old uniformed that have chips on their shoulders and their day will come and most likely already has and that is why they are 60 and still in a cruiser. Believe me, I know many of them that are in this position

All in all, if you have done nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about. You're the duck, and they are the water.

hold up, where did i say anything negative about it? i completly agree with ride checks. all the ones i have encountered i feel have been in bad locations to catch dangerous ppl.

i personally like seeing cops on the road, makes me feel comfortable and everytime i have been pulled over i have deserved it. lol

Kind of a good analogy however does that mean they could ticket me for pooping in the pond cause that means I would be pooping on their back? Or would it be their belly? Oh NM, Thanks Mike! Now I need a drink!

yeah I hit the wrong button on the puter, lol, it deleted your portion. I was saying that I agreed with your points and added that I live in a heavily populated area (fastest growing county in the nation, yay for traffic)

Well, everything and anything I do to my car, I have to be aware that I WILL be stopped by the cops at some point...if only in a road check. The license plate frame is a perfect example of a needless ass kicking I would get, knowing full well that I shouldn't do it. So, I preemptively didn't do it that way, and decided to rig it up to the brake lights. I see no need in ASKING for trouble, and if you think you're gonna do a U-ey and avoid one of those checks, then you're already guilty of SOMETHING! lol!

^ well nothing for nothing, but with the age you are at I would think that would possibly buffer you from getting a ticket anyway. Sometimes age has its privileges, that and boobs...lol

Hey! Double win for me! I have both!

I suppose I could always say it was my son's car (and the things these kids are doing to their cars these days...!), point out the disabled tag on the back of the car, and then explain that I am also a veteran. Hell, I could probably have a Florida's worth of dope in the car and drive away!

stopping everyone on the road does nothing but waste everyone's time. It is just that simple.

And that if you have done nothing wrong line is bs. We don't live in a communist country, and by stopping everyone, they are assuming everyone had done something wrong.

Which is absurd. There is a reason you don't see road blocks everywhere, and that is because they don't do anything but annoy the heck out of people.

Trust me, if they worked, all law enforcement would use them, the reason they are nonexistent almost everywhere just goes to show you they are a waste of time.

Especially a road block in the same place. How will that stop anyone doing anything? They will just avoid it. wow, that is so hard.

So stop assuming everyone that says anything is placing blame, or hates the cops, or any of that garbage that you are assuming.

People can have opinions on things without someone like you coming in and saying crap like that.
