tires squealing when turning - Toyota Yaris Forums

guys, i noticed when i'm turning at aroung 55ish km/hr my front tires are squeling, i have an aftermarket rims and 195x55xR15 tires,32psi front 30psi rear and on stock suspension, do i need to get an alignment? but when driving straight at around 100km/hr it is not wiggling or something.,is it my tires that's losing it's grip? any ideas

Understeer / plowing / pushing... all common issues with front-wheel drive cars including the Yaris in OEM suspension trim. It could also be a tire pressure issue or poor quality rubber. Try adjusting your front tire pressure.
Adding a rear anti-sway bar will help reduce understeer with zero negative effect on ride quality. Every Yaris should have one. If for nothing else but safetys sake. The car is much more stable after one is bolted on. And they're inexpensive.

Poor quality rubber in my experience. Sorry. Open differential, alignment good, not a whole lot else it could be.

Ease way off the accelerator while cornering. Pinning it in a FWD car won't make you corner any faster. Matter of fact it's more of the opposite.

If you're driving hard, try raising your tire pressure for a free mod. I would push it to 38-42 all around. But yeah, a sway bar (or full suspension setup) will help to take some of the load off of that outside tire. And last but most importantly, the quality of the rubber will make a HUGE impact. But IMO, even with 55 series tire, the stock Yaris suspension has a huge propensity to really push the outside tire to roll onto it's edge, likely because of the massive body roll and high center of gravity. Pumping up the tires to max inflation does wonders, and above all else, a sway bar will give you more than enough useable traction for street use.

^Raising tire pressure in the front would reduce grip and cause more understeer. It's happened to me in past Auto-X events when I forgot to let out a little bit of air before my first run.

Whatever the OP decides on, the front should have a lower PSI than the rear, unless he likes feeling like he's driving on butter lol

And I agree with the swaybar comments 100%. Should've been an OEM part

Yes, I agree for most cases. But 32/30 F/R on 195/55r15 (essentially the same sidewalk height as stock) is very low, IMO, for aggressive driving. When ever I did a shoe polish test on the sidewalls below 38, I'd get significant roll over on the fronts. But yes, rear pressure should be higher than front for most cases.
