Yeah, that's what I figured as well...I found it highly unlikely that a windshield should crack under such circumstances. As for the repair, can I leave it wait for spring? There's no use in changing a windshield in winter with all the flying salt rocks on the highway.

If it's only through one layer, and not in your field of view, then you might as well wait for spring.

The crack is only on the outside layer, and I can see perfectly fine since the crack developed directly in front of the wipers. So how much $$$ do you think a new windshield will set me back?

I have no idea as to cost, as my insurance covers glass at 100%, so whenever I've needed a windshield, I have just had to call my insurance company and they dispatch an auto glass repair shop to come to my house and swap it out.

In that case I'll check with my insurance company when the time comes. I'll just say that a huge bird hit my windshield! LOL

I've replaced 3 windshields in my Yrais and they ran about $200.00 Usd each.

Wow! 3 windshields???!! That's insane! Was it due to cracks or chips?
